RwandAir Relaunches Kigali–Kamembe Route, Strengthening Regional Connectivity

RwandAir has officially relaunched its domestic route between Kigali and Kamembe, marking a significant step in enhancing connectivity within Rwanda and across the wider region. The service resumed on March 23, 2026, reestablishing a vital link that supports both tourism and business travel.

Located in Rwanda’s Western Province, Kamembe serves as a gateway to some of the country’s most celebrated natural attractions. The route provides convenient access to Lake Kivu’s scenic shoreline as well as Nyungwe National Park, renowned for its rich biodiversity and eco-tourism experiences. The restored connection is expected to make these destinations more accessible to both international visitors and domestic travelers.

Beyond its tourism appeal, Kamembe holds strategic importance due to its proximity to the Democratic Republic of Congo. Positioned near the border, the city offers key access to Bukavu and the broader eastern DRC region. The relaunched route is therefore set to play a critical role in facilitating cross-border trade, business travel, and regional economic integration.
