Showcasing Papua New Guinea’s Underwater Wonders

Flight Directors, proudly representing Air Niugini across seven key regions in Europe, recently had the privilege of hosting an unforgettable Dive FAM Trip to Papua New Guinea, a journey that brought together specialist dive tour operators from Germany, Switzerland and the UK for a once-in-a-lifetime exploration of one of the world’s most spectacular underwater destinations.

In partnership with the PNG Dive Association, this immersive experience highlighted PNG’s world-class dive sites, warm local hospitality and the unique charm of its boutique island resorts and liveaboard community.

A Journey Through PNG’s Premier Dive Destinations

Across multiple provinces and island regions, the group discovered the extraordinary biodiversity that places Papua New Guinea among the world’s top diving hotspots. Their itinerary showcased a carefully curated mix of renowned dive resorts, vibrant reefs and cultural encounters, offering a true taste of PNG’s incredible marine heritage.

Lissenung Island Resort – Kavieng

An intimate, eco-focused paradise surrounded by pristine reefs and thriving marine life, Lissenung was the perfect introduction to PNG’s spectacular underwater world. From colourful fish life to healthy coral gardens, the group experienced the magic that makes Kavieng a diver’s favourite.

Tufi Resort – Oro Province

Set between dramatic fjords and the Solomon Sea, Tufi delivered a blend of adventure and serenity. The operators explored the region’s famous muck-diving sites, outer reefs and stunning fjord landscapes while enjoying the warm hospitality that Tufi is known for.

Walindi Plantation Resort – West New Britain

A legendary name in the global diving community, Walindi showcased the rich biodiversity of Kimbe Bay, soft coral gardens, volcanic underwater formations and some of the most vibrant reef systems in the Pacific. For many, it was a highlight of the trip.

Exploring Loloata Island & PNG’s Liveaboards

The group also visited Loloata Island, a favourite for divers transiting through Port Moresby, and had the opportunity to step aboard PNG’s premier liveaboards, Oceania and Febrina. These vessels are central to PNG’s reputation as a bucket-list destination for dive expeditions, offering access to remote, untouched reefs.
