RwandAir’s inaugural commercial passenger flight from London Heathrow to Kigali

Published on 7th October 2020

RwandAir’s inaugural scheduled commercial passenger flight from London Heathrow to Kigali departed on 3 Oct 2020, which also marked the resumption of European commercial passenger services.

RwandAir has been operating repatriation & cargo flights to London Heathrow during the pandemic, however todays flight (3 Oct) marked a significant milestone for the leading African carrier as it switched the UK passenger operations from London Gatwick to London Heathrow for the first time.

Yvonne Manzi Makolo, CEO of RwandAir added that, “The move will significantly benefit customers flying into Heathrow from other UK cities who then wish to fly on seamlessly to Rwanda and other parts of Africa. It has never been easier to reach Kigali or cities such as Nairobi, Entebbe, Lusaka and Harare for passengers travelling from London.”
